State mandated reproductive health regulations aimed at limiting abortion access imposes an ideological theocratic agenda upon all of us. Abortion restrictions are integral to a forced-birth program engineered by the state.

The assault on the right to choose is not driven by an interest in “protecting life.: The fact is, this “pro-life” movement stands unanimous in its opposition to birth control and comprehensive sex education, the most effective means of preventing unwanted pregnancies.

We will not be silent when the philosophical and religious opinions of those in power are utilized to legislate morality. Forced motherhood is a form of enslavement and has a direct impact on every one of us, regardless of your biology.

A note on the term “Motherhood”: To us, motherhood and mothering extends to all those who provide for, protect, give birth, and help us to survive. We aim to demonstrate that pregnancy extends far beyond giving birth and is a lifetime commitment with long term economic and social consequences. Lastly, we note that the Western understanding of motherhood is a patriarchal one based on a long historical tradition of subjection and institutionalization - which is why we have chosen to challenge it through END FORCED MOTHERHOOD.
